Watch Bike Park Wales become a perfect winter wonderland
Wet and wild
It may have been one of the wettest winters on record but that shouldn’t stop you getting out on your bike. Sure it’s dark and wet but set yourself a New Year’s resolution of getting out on the bike more and embracing all that winter riding has to offer.
Hopefully this video from Bike Park Wales will act as motivation to do just that and, if not, it will definitely brighten up your first day back at work as it showcases Rowan Sorrell (who designed the Park) alongside Will Soffe and Rob Williams as they shred some of our favourite trails on a classic Welsh winter’s day.
It just goes to show that you can have fun despite the weather. If you pick your trails right you can have a blast in any conditions. In fact, at Bike Park Wales they reckon that the surfaced trails actually grip better in the wet and the natural sections are well maintained so don’t turn into a gloopy mess at the first sign of drizzle.
Bike Park Wales went from strength to strength in 2015 as it opened the UK’s longest blue graded descent, featured in an advert for Peugeot cars and became Europe’s first ever Enve demo centre. It also continued to provide the smile miles on its tangle of trails for a packed uplift week after week.
So what are you waiting for? With uplift spots available for most of February and March there should be nothing stopping you heading to Merthyr Tydfill and showing winter who’s boss.
