Andes Pacifico kicks off in Chile with 4,000 metres of descending
What a race
As we lie in our beds after a long day of riding bikes there’s one recurring dream we always have – to ride the Andes Pacifico.

It’s no surprise really. 64 handpicked riders make their way to the Andes mountains on the Pacific coast of South America and race over five days on 21 special stages taking in more than 10,000 of descent (that’s higher than Everest by the way).
For those lucky enough to be selected, the third edition of the race kicked off yesterday and it looks to be as stunning as ever. The riders had to tackle five special stages on exposed, dusty and blown out trails in the La Parva ski resort.
As the dust settled, local rider Nicolas Prudencio was leading the way with a time of 41 : 26.5, followed closely by Scot enduro pro Mark Scott. There was also British success in the women’s event with Tracey Moseley taking a commanding lead over the rest of the field – so much for taking it easy in 2016!
