At 254g including the carabina-adorned stuff sack, there is never a reason not to carry a jacket as small and stowable as the Montane Velocity DT.
Despite its diminutive scale, it’s no simple clobber. A fleece beard-guard adorns the top of the zip, and an offset cuff design means that even fully-opened cuffs sit neatly against the arm when in the saddle.
Mesh-lined pockets combine with the thin, taped, breathable Entrant fabric to keep the elements at bay and vent steam. It may not be super-tough but it’s a great price and deserving of high accolades.
