These grips are only 1.5mm thicker than ODI Ruffians but we noticed the extra bulk straight away. Maybe it’s because our hands are quite good at measuring the thickness of things, or maybe we just get used to a certain grip size. Either way, these grips feature a surface pattern similar to Ruffians and are the same density. Other than the diameter, the other key difference is the clamping method; ODI uses patented Lock-Jaw clamps, so to get round this Marin goes with four 2.5mm grub screws. These don’t screw directly against the bar so are carbon bar-friendly. A unique feature of the Marin grips is the solid aluminium end cap; it looks neat and also protects the ends of lightweight bars from impact damage.
