Limar 595 2009 helmet review

Surprisingly, for a cheap helmet, the 595 is the second lightest on test. It’s very similar to the S-Works, but don’t be fooled into thinking it has a carbon shell; it’s actually painted plastic. There are a couple of mesh inserts in the forward vents, which we assume are there to stop insects but we’ve yet to have anything in there, and most of the mbr staff have been riding for 20 years.

On the front is a simple moulded visor, but there’s no adjustment and it sits too low. Our advice is to leave it in the box. Sweat pad quality is also poor; however, what‘s worse is there isn’t enough Velcro holding them in place, and quite often we get the front pad poking down during a ride.

The ‘micrometric’ retention device only has lateral adjustment and is very basic, though the ratchet dial can be opened and closed with one hand. Exposed EPS on the bottom of the helmet is starting to mark up but if you want a cheap yet light lid this is it.
