Lightweight and well cut
Mavic Crossmax Pro H2O jacket review
Lightweight and well cut, the Crossmax was an instant hit among the weight conscious in our test team.
>>> The best waterproof mtb jackets
It ticked all the boxes in terms of coverage and weatherproofing, with a pliable and light fabric that proved to be highly breathable under load.
It features a stowable hood, which pulled easily over our helmets, and an adjustable elastic hem to snug draughts out.
There’s no adjustment at the collar and, while there were zipped mesh vents at the waist (often frustratingly mistaken for pockets), they didn’t open far enough to be very effective.
Also, instead of adjustable cuffs, a mini Lycra inner sleeve is stitched into the arms. It’s designed to keep draughts out, which it did, but we missed the option to open the sleeves to improve airflow and, as we found with others on test with this feature, the Lycra material soaked up water and took far longer than the rest of the jacket to dry.
