A lucky escape
A downhill race track can throw a lot of dangerous things at you in a short space of time, especially if you ride them as fast as Brook MacDonald and Sam Blenkinsop, but the last thing you’d expect is having to dodge spectators on the course as well.
That’s exactly what the two Kiwi racers had to contend with while practicing at round two of the New Zealand national series in Napier when a woman misjudged a track crossing and was nearly flattened. Brook MacDonald posted the video on his Facebook and you can see it here but if you’re not part of Zuckerberg’s cult then we’ve made a gif of it here for you.
As you can see the woman had a very lucky escape and if it wasn’t for the cat-like reflexes of Blenkinsop then she could have ended up seriously hurt.
The incident clearly didn’t encourage the boys to slow down though as Brook MacDonald headed up a 1-2 finish for the pair. It was his first win with the new GT team and bodes well for the upcoming World Cup downhill season.
