A man of many talents
This weekend Gee Atherton proved himself to be a man of many many talents. Not only is he a multiple downhill World Champion but he’s also now a Cambrian Rally stage winner too.
The Cambrian Rally was started in the late fifties by Llandudno Aero Club after it destoryed its one and only plane and was left with nothing else to do. Today it attracts over 150 competitors for a day of rallying in the forests of Penmancho and Clocaenog – it has even seen appearances from WRC legends such as Stig Blomqvist, Markku Alen, Per Eklund and Juha Kankkunen.
Gee was racing in the B10 class in a Ford Fiesta R2. He ended up finishing seventh in his class (out of 11) despite running out of fuel on the final stage – he even managed to bag himself a stage win along th
