Using a similar mounting system to the THE, the Defender has all plastic parts instead of steel and importantly has quick-release guards, so in theory you can remove them when you don’t need them. Whether anyone does this is another matter, especially since dirt can jam up the fittings. The good news is that this is better styled than previous Defenders and now has a reinforced clamp that won’t pull away from the expandable wedge if you over tighten it.
