New Hope crank

Look what you get when you buy a Hope crankset! Machined aluminium crank arms with a 30mm alloy spindle, a sealed bearing bottom bracket, narrow/wide chain ring and a selection of fitting and service tools. SRAM X-Sync Direct Mount

Other manufacturers developed direct mount rings for SRAM cranks before SRAM did, but this new X-Sync Direct Mount looks a lot sleeker than most and is probably stiffer. Eliminating the spider can save up to a 100g in weight and also allows a wider range of ring sizes – the X-Sync Direct Mount is available in 26-40t sizes. The 32t ring shown weighs 70g and costs £75. Met Parachute HES

The old Met Parachute had a replaceable chin guard, but the new version is a proper full face, despite having what looks like a modular design. At 757g it’s super lightweight due to the HES (homothetic embedded construction) and has a ton of vents, an adjustable Safe-T retention device, Kevlar straps and a Gel brow pad to stop sweat running in your eyes. Ragley Controls

Ragley has a new range of components inlcuding this Stubbing stem and Wiser riser bar. The stem has a two-tone finish, a low stack height and a Easton style Top-Lock clamping, where you close up the two top bolts fully before tightening the lower two in the normal way. Ragleybikes.com

Red Hot Gore Baggies

There is a test of the Gore Bike Wear Alp-X Windstopper short in the next issue of MBR but this is the new Pro version. It’s part of a modular clothing system, which inlcudes a baggy bib, a jacket with zip-off sleeves and short sleeved jersey with a pack-style reat panel.
