Core Bike is a small UK bike show crammed full of new and exciting product. MBR's tech editor unearthed even more gear and also visited The Bike Place, another independent show right around the corner. Here are the highlights
Check out part one of our Core Bike coverage here.
DMR Flats for under £20
Plastic flat pedals are affordable and lightweight but few have the same grip levels or bearing quality as their more expensive alloy cousins. DMR’s new V6 could change all that – it has a concave shape, deep pin design and two, smooth running internal bushings. A stack of colours and cheap too – £17.95.
Lacondeguy Signature Vault pedals
DMR is also working with 2104 Red Rampage winner Andreu Lacondeguy on a signature model. It’s will retail for £129.99 and has a truly stunning fluid colour scheme.
661 Budget Full Face
Fancy a spot of DH but don’t want to spend £300 on a top-end full face? Take a look at 661’s new Comp helmet – sleek, seven colours and a bargain at £64.99.
Also from 661 is the Evo Am in a fancy Le Mans colourway. Apparently it apes the colour of the Martini sponsored race cars used at Le Mans in the 70s and 80s.
Long and Low
The Transition Patrol is a 160mm (front) and 155mm (rear) travel, 27.5in wheeled, all-mountain ripper. It’s available as a frame only for £1499. 95 but the UK importer is also offering three killer value build kits.
E13 Wheel Deal
The idea behind the machining on E13’s new LEX Generation rims is extra material is removed from the area around the spokes holes under the least amount of tension and in a rear wheel that’s on the none-drive side. The new design will feature on E13’s TRSr (trail and enduro) wheels for 2015 and to get you up and running the rims will be taped for tubeless and include a bottle of E13’s new Tire Plasma sealant, some cool machined vales and an XD driver at no extra charge!
Cheaper Marzocchi
Marzocchi is dropping the price of it 160mm travel 350 forks for 2015. The 350 CR is now £429, down a £150 from last year. The company has also added a titanium coil sprung fork to the range called the 350 NCR Ti.
Crank Bros Custom Colours
For a limited time Crank Bros is offering the Candy 3, Mallet 3, in fact all of the model 3 pedals, in custom colourways. This fancy finish will add an extra £10 to the price.
Evoc Enduro Race Pack
There plenty of packs with build in back protection but Evoc’s new Stage 12lt takes it a step further and has wider chest straps for full neck brace compatibility.
Ride Fast and Light
Race Face is offering a range of products for the rider that likes to travel light. Its Stash Vest (£69.99) is designed to be worn under a jersey but has several pockets for tools, gels, a pump and even a waterbottle. There’s also a bib version (£89.99), similar to Specialized’s SWAT, with extra storage in the legs and belt cum bum bag for £39.99.
Intense Scrutiny
Intense is now offering is short-travel Spider in both 29 and 27.5in versions. Both bikes gets the same adjustable rear (115-130mm) travel and aluminium construction but the new Spider 275 has revised geometry with a slightly slacker head and longer front centre.
Fox Custom Decals
Customise any fork and shock in the Fox range with these Heritage decals. Yours for as as little as £20.
Radical Narrow/Wide Chainring
Any company that makes chainrings probably has a narrow wide in the pipeline but few are likely to be the same as MRP’s new Wave ring. Rather than the teeth being thick and thin, the Wave’s are offset to one another but apparently this is just as effective at chain retention. The Wave us available in 104bcd and 110bcd and also direct mount for SRAM cranks. Sizes range from 28 to 42t depending on the interface.
Green Light
Yeti bikes are normally available in a traditionally company Turquoise but the new 27.5in wheeled, 157mm travel SB6c, also comes in this vibrant green. It features the new Switch Infinity Technology suspension design and the C in the name stands for full carbon. Frame only price, a cool £3099!
Off-the-peg Bronson
Santa Cruz is offering killer deals when you buy a complete bike. The Bronson C R (shown gets) a Rock Shox Sector gold fork, Shimano brakes and gears and WTB parts, on a carbon frame for £3099! The shorter-travel 5010 is also available with the same build kit and price tag.
