2011 UCI World Downhill champion Danny Hart will be the star attraction at the Downhill and 4X race at Hamsterley Forest, County Durham, on the 29th and 30thSeptember in aid of Help For Heroes.
It has not been confirmed if Hart will take part in the racing, but he will be there to sign autographs and show off his skills. He will be joined by fellow pro Scott Mears, UK and World Cup rider.
Entries to the event are now closed, with a full contingent of around 250 amateur and professional riders.
The organisers of the event said, “It’s going to be great to have such a well-respected Downhill racer with us. Danny is a big supporter of Help for Heroes and the work they do to support wounded troops. He was very happy to come along and has even said he may well get more involved. What ever Danny ends up doing, I hope it gets bike fans along and results in more being made for the charity.”
The weekend is being organised by soldier Jack Bennett, who has turned his hobby into a fundraising idea. Jack serves with the 1st Battalion the Yorkshire regiment, and is also the manager of the Army Downhill Team.
As well as DH and 4X races, Specialized will be exhibiting its 2013 bike range, and there will be entertainment for the kids and a BBQ. Click here for entries and further up to date information, and to donate to the event, head to the Just Giving page.
