Nice thinking
We love nature because, quite simply, without it we’d have nowhere to ride. That’s why its great to see any brand taking the initiative when it comes to being more environmentally friendly.
Continental’s latest tyre, the Der Baron Projekt 2.4, comes with a nifty bit of packaging that doubles as a mud guard – perfect considering the onset of winter!

The packaging was designed by Rie:Sel Design, a german company that specialises in mud guards. To use the fender, just push it out of the original packaging and strap it to the fork, just below the the bridge. Your ride should be mud-free and best of all there’s less waste to throw on the landfill.

The Projekt 2.4 is Continental’s new enduro tyre designed with help from the Atherton clan. It (pretty obviously) is 2.4 inches wide and is available in for 26 inch, 27.5 inch and 29 inch wheelsizes.
Bike Biz reports that this packaging will only available to buy from an actual bike shop, as opposed to online, and will be limited to ten tyres per store. It will retail at 67 Euros (£49.44).
