His latest masterpiece is being exhibited in New York
Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Banksy – some great artists of our age. Well now you can add a new, if unlikely, name to that list – Claudio Caluori.
That’s right, when Claudio isn’t shredding the World Cup downhill tracks he’s creating urban artwork with his trail building company Velosolutions. Velosolutions has previously created pump tracks in Switzerland and Thailand – its latest one in New York is quite a masterpiece.
The New York pump track can be used by skateboarders as well as mountain bikers and is covered in street art drawn by Jon Burgerman. In this video you can see French free rider Adrien Loron hit some hot laps on the freshly laid tarmac. He picks so many different lines and is even able to thrown in a few cheeky tricks; the flow on this track looks unreal!

It’s awesome to see a pump track nestled in New York and we’re hoping that Velosolutions get over to some UK cities soon. With trail centres such as Lady Canning’s within spitting distance of city centres, this may not be beyond the realms of imagination
Claudio will return with another course preview for the Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup in Canada on August 1. The track there is legendarily wild so expect the usual mix of screaming and singing from the Swiss commentator.
