A sneaky peak at the future?
Nicolai have just teased their new e-bike – the Nicolai Ion G16-EBOXX. And it’s a beast!
Essentially it’s an electric-motored version of the 160mm travel Nicolai Ion. Despite the “BOXX” in the name there’s no gearbox or belt-drive drivetrain. It’s a regular derailleur drivetrain albeit one power-assisted by a Boasch motor.

What we know so far
160mm travel with 27.5+ wheels.
Or 130mm travel with 29″ wheels.
Integrated battery inside the down tube.
Bosch Performance CX motor.
Frame partly made from cast components welded together.
Steep seat angle (77°).
Long chainstays (470mm).
Slack head angle (63.5°).
Long top tube (662mm on a Large).
Chain guide. Bottle mount. Built-in Smartphone mount(!)
Available from April 2017.
Very limited numbers.
