In an effort to rebrand the XtC series as more competition-specific machines, updated geometry has reduced suitability for the entry-level rider. Spacers are supplied to run the stem high but the front wheel ends up a long way from the bar, and it feels like a shopper. Previously the own brand brakes would have been best in test, but now — comparatively — there’s too much spring tension in the lever.
This new machine is a step backward in our opinion. We mourn the loss of the old Giant: the perennial classic has lost its neutral nature.
