Commie's 130mm travel trail bike
The Commencal Meta TR V4.2 is a 130mm travel trail bike that runs with a 130-140mm fork up front. It’s a smidge slacker than the previous Meta TR but otherwise the geometry remains the same.
Need to know
- 130mm 27.5″ trail bike
- 66.5° head angle (0.5° slacker than the previous Meta TR)
- Metric shock (210 x 50mm)
- Revised top tube fits more sorts of shock
- Available via direct sales
Commençal META TR V4.2
Much like the recently announced Meta AM V4.2 the main change to the Meta TR V4.2 is the revised top tube. The rear shock is still nestled away up in a recess in the underside of the top tube but how it attaches has been tweaked and the general size of the recess is larger.
This change means that the bike can run metric shocks and fatter bodies shocks ie. shocks with larger volume air cans. This basically means that you can run ‘more shock’ within the same eye-to-eye length.
Larger volume shocks are easier to setup and offer greater consistency of feel when out on the trail.
Other than a slightly slacker head angle the top tube, reach (460mm on Large) and seat angle (74°) remain the same. This is more of a reassurance that the previous Commencal TR bike was pretty on trend for geometry.
It’s not a wildly progressive bike intended for slaying enduro courses, it’s meant to be a normal trail bike. The overall weight and the general on-bike stance is more suited to getting the miles in, as opposed to more gravity-centric riding. If you want a more aggro ride then that’s what the Meta AM V4.2 is for.

What else is noteworthy? It’s Boost axled, there’s a chainstay-mounted brake calliper with increased clearance, you can fit a large water bottle in the main frame, there’s a rubberised down tube protector and the cable guiding around the BB has been tweaked.
There’ll be two models of Commencal Meta TR V4.2 – the ‘Origin’ and the ‘Essential’.
