On the weekend of the 20th and 21st October, the Evans Cycles Trail Ride returns to the Gatwick area. Make the most of your weekend riding with our off-road Trail Rides and road based Sunday Sportive rides.
Whether you’ve been around the same old routes once too often or you’re just getting into the sport and want to get the most out of it, or if you just want an excuse for a great day out on the bike, then the Evans Cycles Trail Rides & Sunday Sportives are for you!
Both events begin from the Evans Cycle site in Gatwick, providing parking facilities, toilets, a food service and the store is right next door so you can nip in and grab any last minute accessories ready for a really good weekend. As an added bonus, all riders over the weekend all will receive an extra discount at the Evans Cycles Gatwick Clearance area – an extra 10% off clearance bikes and an extra 25% off clearance clothing, accessories and components.
Trail Rides
Join over 300 other riders on our long established Trail Ride series. Taking you off the beaten path offering a choice of three distances (from 15 – 30+ miles) to cater for all abilities – first timers through to experienced riders. The routes are fully marked to make them easy to follow, and you get a fully route marked OS map of the course to back you up.
Each ride is designed to offer a great days riding in a non-competitive and fun atmosphere on excellent trails without the headache of route planning and navigation
SPORTIVE ROAD RIDE – SUNDAY
This is an opportunity to get some miles under your belt and sample some of the quiet lanes and stunning scenery that Sussex has to offer. The Sportive rides are non-competitive road rides along our way-marked routes with three distances on offer from 40km – 140km with drink stops positioned en-route and at the finish. Maps are provided and all riders are electronically timed so you can either take the ride at your own pace or go for a personal best time. Designed for all abilities, from first timers through to more advanced riders, there is a distance to suit all abilities.
Entry fees: £12 – £16 per person for pre-booked entries
Start times: 8.30am – 10.00am depending on distance
PINNACLE DEMO BIKES
The Pinnacle demo fleet of Tharpu Peak full suspension mountain bikes will be on hand on the Saturday for the off-road ride, allowing riders to take one of these bikes out for the day on the Trail Ride.

Putting these events on is one of a handful of ways Evans Cycles wants to encourage you to get out and ride. “Cycling is one of the greatest ways to get into shape, stay fit and rekindle the love for the great outdoors” said Ben Hart, Evans Cycles, Marketing Manager. “Anyone can do it, and it allows people to get out and explore some of our countryside that would otherwise go unnoticed.”
“For many people off-road riding can be quite daunting”, continued Ben. “Simply knowing where to go and what to take can be confusing enough so we try and make it as simple as possible by providing riders with a fully marked out course and route maps. This makes getting involved even more accessible – just turn up and ride!”
