The Peak District is Britain’s most popular national park, and judging from the tyre tracks you’ll see on the way round, this route must account for a fair share of the two-wheeled visitors.
It’s no pushover: the climbs are steep and often technical, and the descents prove equally challenging. The surfaces are generally firm though, with real rocky horror shows in a few places, and the views are fantastic — especially across the Upper Derwent Valley from the Derwent Moors.
If you only ever ride one route in the Peak District, make it this one.
