UCI have revealed more details about the first ever e-MTB World Championships in August-September 2019 in Mont-Saint-Anne, Canada.

The date and venue

On Wednesday August 28th 2019 at Mont-Saint-Anne, Canada.
Start Men: 14:15.
Start Women: 16:30.
The e-bike races will take place after the XC Team Relay which always opens the World Champs.

The racers

Men aged 19 and over and includes Masters.
Women aged 19 and over and includes Masters.
Each nation federation can enter 15 men and 15 women (countries may register an additional team B of maximum 15 men and 15 women riders).

The format and race course

Cross-country format.
Lap length: 7.3 km.
Race expected to last between 1.5hrs to 2hrs.
Racers may receive assistance in the dedicated technical assistance zone. Bike and battery changes are not permitted.

The bikes

UCI: “An E-Mountain Bike is a bike operated with two energy sources, human pedal power and an electric engine, which only provides assistance when the rider is pedalling.

“E-Mountain bike events must be organised in accordance with the following bike standards:
– Engine of maximum 250watts
– Engine assistance up to 25km/h
– Pedalling assistance only, although a start-up assistance not exceeding 6km/h
without pedalling is allowed”

The UCI will carry out bike checks according to the above standards.
