Medium-weight, understated trail and enduro short from Bontrager.
Bontrager Lithos MTB short review
Bontrager has constructed the Lithos MTB from a stretch-woven polyester. This has been treated with a DWR coating to shrug off light rain and mud splatter, keeping you a little comfier on the trails at this time of year.
Closure is performed by a standard zip and pop-stud affair. Rather than Velcro adjustment straps Bontrager has chosen to use a nylon belt and quick release metal buckle.
As the Lithos are aimed at enduro riders it’s good to see that the cut integrates perfectly with knee pads, while the legs are cut just a little longer to keep the overlap. The Lithos is a really comfortable short to ride in. The material is comfortable against the skin and the fit isn’t too loose to be flapping everywhere at speed.

I really liked the pocket arrangement in the Lithos. Most noteworthy, the right pocket has a split liner so you can separate your phone from other items, keeping everything securely in place. As a nod to warm weather riding there are several laser-cut vent holes interspersed around the lower leg.
The metal buckle arrangement works well for adjusting the short fit and is easy to unclip. Consequently, the metal makes it heavy, plus it does give the washing machine a pounding when cleaning the shorts!
