Easily the warmest boot on test, with a luxurious fleece lining positively enveloping our foot when slipped on.

This was backed by one of the highest reaching waterproof linings — with Gore-Tex coming almost up to the top of the ankle — making it the best protected on test.

Put it this way — if you suffer from cold feet, this is the boot to buy.

It was also best for power transfer, sporting a stiff, carbon-reinforced, sole for efficient pedalling. Great on the bike when bashing out the miles, but it made things a little trickier when hacking around on the ground, where the shoe felt distinctly ‘clumpy.’

It wasn’t helped by the sole; super chunky tread bit into the mud, but a hard plastic material just skated on anything hard like rocks or roots — even the wet tiled floors in one tester’s entrance hall nearly had him sprawling.

A terrific, warm and protective winter boot, but not one if you regularly spend more time pushing than pedalling, which unfortunately can happen in soft and slippy winter conditions.
