We've scoured the web for the best bargains of the week

We’re definitely in that hinterland zone where end of season sales have all but finished yet there isn’t really any shiny new 2017 kit in stock yet.

It’s taken us a fair bit longer to unearth some decent enough bargains for this week’s Dirty Deals. But unearthed them we have. We’re good to you like that see.

Without further ado – here’s yer deals…

E Thirteen TRS+ AM Direct Mount single ring crankset – £259.00 – £99.99

Direct mount chainring chainsets are a thing a greatness. No more spiders and BCDs to content with and bodge. Just a nice nip-it-up design with super stiff chainrings.

An added bonus, seeing as there’s no spider, is that you slap a smaller-than-30T chainring on there. With traditional 4-arm cranks with spiders the smallest you can go is 30T.

Being able to go down to 28T is of particular interest for mountain bikers who ride is super steep mountainous terrain. This is especially true if you ride a 29er where the larger wheels make the gear ratio a bit harder work.

e13 stuff is often out of the range of mortals but at the mo you can pick this chainset for £99.99!

Crank Brothers Iodine 2 27.5″ and 29″ wheelsets – £499.99 – £299.99

These are promoted as Crank Brothers’ all-mountain wheelset but they’re actually much better thought of a nice trail riding wheelset.

Aside from the usual Crank Brothers’ funky looks, the Iodine wheels offer sealed cartridge bearings, 15mm or 20mm bolt-thru front hub adapters, 10mm x 135mm and 12mm x 142mm rear hub adapters and a good weight (1,910g).

They are also SRAM XD Driver compatible – via an additional converter – so if you want to swithc over/between Shimano and SRAM 1x drivetrains, you can do.

The Iodine wheelset typically retails at £500 but they’re on sale at £299.99 for the 27.5″ version and £299.99 for the 29″ version.

Mavic Crossmax Quest 27.5″ and 29″ tyres – £43.00 – £32.25

xxmavic-crossmax-quest-tyre

Mavic are very much a cult choice when it comes to tyres. People don’t like to move away from the more established tyre brands like Maxxis, Schwalbe and Continental. But we reckon you should try something new once in a while with your rubbers.

The Mavic Crossmax Quest is a tyre that ticks an awful lot of boxes. Performance 50/55A dual compound, tubeless ready, large 2.4″ volume, Guard+ reinforced casing and a good all-rounder tread pattern for trail riding. They weigh in at a respectable 780g.

The Crossmax Quest is perhaps not quite aggro enough for a hard-charging front tyre in technical terrain but if you’re on the lookout for a fast and dependable rear tyre – check it out.

Modern tyres can be eye-wateringly expensive but this tyre is currently £32.25 for the 27.5″ version and £32.25 for the 29″ version.
