While the pedal has a super-positive engagement, we would have liked the action to be a little lighter at times
Funn Tactic MTB clipless pedal review
Out the box, release tension had been cranked up to max; in fact it was so tight we had to take our shoes off and wrench them out by hand — hardly an auspicious start.
Once the tension screws were backed off, it became easier to get in and out, but the pedal never lost the harsh, unanimously disliked ‘crack’ during release.
The bearings are still running fine after the test period, too, although we were concerned to see grease positively haemorrhaging from the seals early on.
This is rarely a good sign of effectiveness, but it could just have been a case of excessive assembly grease escaping.

The Tactic is available in black, blue, orange, red and silver and everyone agreed it would be a particularly handsome addition to any bike, but at £80 it’s the most expensive pedal on test, and there are better value options available elsewhere.
