Bad news for Northern Irish bikers

The Davagh Forest trails, in Northern Ireland, have been forced to close due to damage from scramblers.

In a Facebook post, Davagh Forest confirmed: “Damage caused by scramblers has led to the closure of the mountain bike trails at Davagh today (Saturday 27 February). They will remain closed until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to everyone whose enjoyment of Davagh has been affected by this irresponsible behaviour.”

This was confirmed by the Mid-Ulster Council, who said: “Damage caused by scramblers has led to the closure of the trails at Davagh – will remain closed until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to everyone whose enjoyment of Davagh has been affected by this irresponsible behaviour.”

Davagh Forest is home to a green trail, a blue trail and a red trail. It also has a skills area and pump track. We’re not sure what area has been affected, or to what extent, but it would appear that all the trails have been closed for the forseable future.

Update:

It seems like the Mid Ulster Council has been hard at work all day and the trails are now “passable with care” with more detailed inspections to be carried out tomorrow. Let’s hope this doesn’t become a regular occurrence for Davagh Forest.
