Rob Warner hung up his handlebars from competitive racing in 2006 and as far as everyone was concerned that would probably be the last we saw from the motor-mouthed commentator between the tapes.

That all changed when Steve Peat decided to organise a legend’s race in the final round of the BDS at Antur Stiniog this year. The race was held to commemorate 20 years since the passing of Jason McRoy and saw the old stalwarts of British downhill return to the race track for one last time.

Rob Warner fully got on board with the idea and brought along a custom Giant Glory along with his old World Cup mechanic. This documentary follows him over the weekend.

The race was made extra spicy thanks to a bet between Warner and Lee Bertram. Whoever finished slower than the other would have their time tattoo’d on them forever, not one you’d want to lose. In the end it was Warner who came down in second, over seconds back on Bertram, he decided to up the bet and actually had Bertram’s face tattoo’d above the time.

It’s worth saying that Warner still has some skills though. It looks like he’s riding nicely despite the nine year break. Rob will be returning to the safety of the commentary box for the 2016 season. The first race will be in Cairns in April.
