Aaron Gwin discusses his dominant 2015 season
Will it be his last at Specialized?
Will it be his last at Specialized?
Aaron Gwin’s 2015 season almost defies belief. He ended the year with four wins (one of which was without a chain) and took the overall by nearly 300 points. The rest of the men’s field was left scrabbling after him and only Josh Bryceland and Greg Minnaar were able to best him all year.
It was a return to form for the man who initially struggled at Specialized and this video allows you to get inside the mind of the champion as he discusses his wins and losses throughout the year. He said: “The season was amazing, I’m stoked.”
Unfortunately Gwin’s World Championships’ curse continued this year as the Vallnord course spat him out in 74th. It’s worth noting that Gwin did clock the fastest final section time after a crash though so he clearly had the speed to knock Bruni off his perch.
Despite his great success this year, this could be Gwin’s last with Specilaized. The rumour mill is turning and there are strong suspicions that Gwin will be racing elsewhere next year. Wherever he goes it will be massive news so we’ll keep you updated here on MBR.
It was also a good year for his team mate, Troy Brosnan, who may not have won a race but still managed to claim four podiums including a third place in Val di Sole despite a crash.
Jaroslav Kulhavy claimed two wins for Specialized in the men’s cross country at Nove di Mesto and Lenzerhedie and was leading the overall for a while but he faded towards the end of the year. Annika Langvad claimed her first ever Wold Cup win at Val di Sole.
