This is a slightly larger version of the Axis we tested last year. It’s the most expensive helmet light on test but it bangs out a whopping 2,000 lumens.

Included in the carry case is Exposure’s original ball-and-socket style mount, which bolts through a vent, but if your helmet lacks them, there’s a more conventional mount, as well as an additional bar mount in there too. Also included is a 3.1 Support Cell battery to double the burn-time, a dedicated charger and a Wireless Remote Switch. You can sync the latter easily with the light and it allows you to change the mode without having to take a hand off the handlebars. Signals are sent backwards and forwards between the light and switch, communicating run-time by a series of flashes.
The Equinox is easily the brightest headlight on test — we absolutely blasted round our test loop using this light. You only get half an hour on full power but the fact that you can manage the output with the remote ekes out every last drop of battery life.
