Deciding to convert to tubeless makes sense in so many ways. It’s lighter, there’s more grip, and the miracle of sealant, which fixes all but the worst of punctures, means you’ll never want to go back. Carry a replacement tube and a tyre boot to repair anything more serious just as you would with a tubed set-up, and apart from some initial hassle and mess I can’t see any downsides to making the switch. Some would say it’s expensive, but so are replacement inner tubes — and I’ve not bought one of those in years.

Stan’s No Tubes make the most popular conversion kit out there, and the one here is used to convert a normal rim to tubeless use. Make sure that you get the correct type and size for your rims — to convert tubeless-ready rims, for example, you use the thin yellow tape and seperate valve stems. Also it’s not just about wheel diameter, width is a critical factor too. To find the right one, go to paligap.cc. Time to get started…
