Weighing 199g with full-length cables it is easy to see why weight weenies and elite XC racers still choose SRAM X0 Twist Shifters over conventional shifter pods. Front mech trim is excellent because you have nine positions rather than three, something every roadie will appreciate. Wet muddy conditions can make shifting more difficult, especially if the gear cable gets contaminated, as the Twist Shifter requires a lot of spring tension in the mech for a good downshift. Fortunately cable replacement is a breeze. For more dynamic riding the key problem with the Twist Shifter is that it is very easy to shift accidentally when pulling up on the handlebar. Obviously if you run full length grips this is less of an issue, but then you have to move you hands inboard every time you want to change gear.
