If you fancy combining great trails with top-flight motorsport action, get down to one of the many stages and use your bike to beat the crowds to the best vantage points. Of course, safety is paramount when you’ve got cars travelling at speeds in excess of 100mph on gravel, so access to the stages is by ticket only via official car park entry points. Marshalls will then guide you safely to the recommended spectator areas.
Whatever you do, don’t try and sneak in or stray off the official routes. The density of marshals varies greatly throughout the forests so you could easily find yourself on a live stage without knowing about it.
We’ll be there to watch the action on Saturday, while on Sunday we’ll be trying to beat the cars between Special Stages 16 and 19 by navigating across the best of Afan’s singletrack for a feature that will appear in the next issue of MBR.
Spectator tickets can be purchased from Special Stage car parks or the ticket office in Cardiff. A complete online rally planner is available in the Spectator section of www.walesrallygb.com. Traffic, obviously, will increase significantly over the weekend, so expect delays if you are in the South Wales area. For those who don’t make it, you can watch the highlights on Sunday 7th December at 6pm on Dave.
The perfect Christmas gift for yourself or a friend – the present that keeps on giving!
