As the only helmet on test with a microshell covering all but the underside of the EPS body, the Uvex has a quality feel far above its £39.99 price tag. Channels round the head are reasonably deep and offer creditable ventilation, but nothing that would lead us to use this helmet in hot countries.
Fixtures and fitting are excellent, including nice touches such as the mesh covered forward vents, effective and well made IAS (Individual Adapting System) retainer and soft Velcro strap cover to keep the excess from flapping around. A unique Uvex push button Monomatic closure system adds a few more centimetres of adjustment when you clip the helmet together, deserving a special mention for its innovative design.
