Made largely of coated leather, these shoes make a great all-round trail beater, using long-lasting tough materials where it counts, and flexing just enough to make walking reasonably comfortable. The three-strap design cinched up well and made them feel solid when pedalling. We found the mesh front a very open weave, where water literally poured in when splashed with even the smallest puddle, but on the upside this ventilated the boots well in warmer weather for drying purposes. The high ankle also tended to scuff the cranks as it was pushed out by the ball of our ankles, a minor problem unless you tend to ride ‘heels in’. For such a good, long-lasting all-rounder they are hard to beat for value.
