The coloured e.thirteen bashrings are made from Makrolon, a super-tough plastic that will slip over roots and rocks like regular clear ones, but look nicer. Other colour options are only available to sponsored riders, so if you want a white or green you’ll have to win a round of the World Cup.
Over-tightening the chainring bolts can cause stress fractures in the ring, but the plastic is so strong that the spider on your crank is more likely to bend before the bashring will give-way. According to Silverfish, oil prices have forced a price hike, so regular e.thirteen bashrings now cost £33.95, and for a transparent colour you’ll pay an extra six quid. They are not the lightest bashrings on the market, nor the cheapest, but they are easily the coolest.
