Not everyone wants or needs the full-on protection of a DH helmet, and that’s where the Specialized Deviant comes in. It passes the same safety regulations but is designed for improved ventilation and reduced weight. For better peripheral vision, the jaw piece is cut further into the helmet shell, making it look long. If you’re into marathon DH racing or you just want more protection than an open face, the Deviant is the only option. However, the finsih isn’t very durable, the retention system isn’t effective and the peak could do with more upward adjustment.
