Waterproof bike bag manufacturer Ortlieb introduces the Mudracer, its latest take on the faithful seat wedge. Consisting of a fairly generous 0.7-litre capacity despite the ‘small’ tag, a silicone rubber gaiter stretches snugly over the moulded EVA outer. It has perfect dimensions for snugly stowing a lumpy Blackburn System X6 battery in the dry, helped by the fully zipped, fabric hinged opening. The bag uses an established quick-release clamping method via a three-bolt rail attachment and robust plastic bag fixing. A waterproof strap gives it a stabilising purchase around the seatpost. Backpacks have rather left behind bike-attached bags, but for specialist lighting application or a rust-free auxiliary spares compartment during overloaded epics, the Mudracer is the best we’ve seen in a while.
