With something of a twist on the standard Killer Loop theme, this month’s offering traces a point voyage between three of North Yorkshire’s classic seaside havens.
Call the opening disused railway meander south from Whitby a warm-up to bigger things, because soon after Robin Hood’s Bay the trails begin in earnest, gaining height from the coast to reach the sprawl of Fylingdale’s Moor. A lengthy stint across the moors carries you south to North Riding’s forestation as the route cuts south through Broxa, Hackness and on to Raincliffe Woods as things veer east towards Scarborough.
After picking up the main road into town it’s time to make a beeline to the spa town’s bright lights of South Bay for a fish ‘n’ chip supper.
